Macros

Been a couple of days, but not to worry I have been busy.
I've only got a couple of things to complete in my NAME swap, I've also signed up for a SKULL/SKELETON Swap on Craftster. So I've been busy with my hook.

Had the Kenwood out again this weekend and made: Celery Bread, Seeded Wholemeal bread (3 of them), Walnut and coffee layer. I also made some chewy flapjacks and a cannelli bean, tomato and basil casserole. The Gasgbags (my local crafting group) will get to sample the cakes and celery bread tonight.

Finally, I entered a Macro (close up) photography challenge on craftsters. I had a choise of which to enter. I finally picked the eye one called "The street where you live". These are my latest macros

Headphone Cosies

Should have posted this last night, but was feeling a bit pooped.

I got some fab inspiration from this post on craftster.
I had one of those DUH moments when I thought, "Why didn't I think of that?".
Anyway if you look at the post, a craftster had crocheted some funky headphone cosies and I just happened to be using headphones on the lappy that only had one cosy left. Eureka I thought I'll make some for myself.

Since I'm a bit of a Skull freak, I just had to make something that bit different. So this is what I came up with:

Aren't they Uber Cool. I love them. They're made with Acrylic, so they are very soft and warm.

Baking Day

I decided today would be the day that my new toy was put to the test.

A baking day.

With the help of my lovely assistant DD we made a whole kaboodle of tastey treats.
Chocolate and coffee layer, chocolate and coffee Bantemburgh, Mediterranean Loaf, parkin and crunchy fruit cake. All made with the aid of my kenwood.

It's great I can beat up my marg and sugar whilst weighing out my other ingredients. I know, silly pleasure, but after years of using a hand held whisk it was great to be using a Kenwood again.
I even had time to soak and cook some chickpeas, so I made chicken and chickpea casserole in the slowcooker for dinner and I will make hummous with the rest tomorrow. Busy, busy, busy.

My New Toy

OOh I'm so excited. A fantastic item came up on Freecycle yesterday. I've been thinking about getting one for a while, but they are so expensive to buy new, so imagine my excitement to find one free. I immediately emailed the lovely person and I was lucky enough for them to say "Yes, you can have it"

By now you're probably wondering what fantastical thing i am going on about. Well I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste, it's old and worn, but still working. I'm not that nuts on new stuff, I feel much happier when I'm giving something old and well loved a home.

Here's my new toy.

A Kenwood Mixer and look!! It has all it's bits

So this sunday is going to be bake day. I'm going to try kneading some bread in it and making some cakes. Can't wait to play with it.

Once started

you just can't get me to shut up......
Three blogs in one day!!!!

Just wanted to say that I have started another project. I know, I know, I already have 350 on the go (well about 6 or 7), but I started a crocheted shrug for my DD using a FANFARE crochet stitch. No pattern I'm just winging it. So we'll see how it goes.

Charity Shops and Ebay

Been thinking about doing some felted crafts. I had a look at someone's blog the other day with some fantastic projects on it. Unfortunately I have no idea what the lady was called now. If I remember I'll post a link.
So after work today me and DD went up and had a look around the charity shops.
I bought a pure wool jumper for £2.50.

And a £3.00 Cardigan with fabby buttons:

Finally I won a jumper on Ebay for £4.50. That's a bit more than I would normally pay, but it's got ducks on it and I can't wait to see how it turns out felted.

I also managed to get some more wool for my crafting 6 100g balls of acrylic, 1 ball of blue cotton and some oddments for £4.75. Great buys.
Roll on the felting.

Starting Again

I have my own website, which used to have a blog, but then the guys decided to charge me for it. So I haven't blogged in ages. Check out my site, as there are some fab recipes, some funky crafts and links.

So what am I up to atm.
Working on a swap for crafters ( link on website), which is fun. It's a name swap so I'm making items for JEN and her sons ZACH and SAMMY. Won't say what as she may stalk and find out and it just has to be a surprise.
I'm also working on a CAL (crochet-a-long) on both craftster and ravelry ( link website). This is a 12 month 12" square CAL. Each month a new square is picked to crochet for an afghan.

This is it so far

I'm also working on a wrap around cardigan. This is my first big adult project (SCARY). I have finished the back and I'm working on my first sleeve. It's looking great, but it's slow going as I knit slow and get bored easily.
